Congratulations to Stephen Kennedy, Barry Garner and Dennis Brown, winners of the 2011 West Coffs triples Tournament, proudly sponsored by Club Coffs, West Coffs Bowls Shop, Apollo Blinds Awnings and Shutters , and Ray Ellicott Concreting.
28 teams took to the greens for the two day event played over five rounds. And after three rounds on Saturday only five sides remained undefeated. Park Beach's Denis Brown and rink held a commanding shot margin to lie in first place, ahead of club mate Cory Daley, who was closely followed by teams skippered by Ferntree Gully's Ron Ralph, C-Ex's Aden Pike and Scotts Head's Bryan Cullen.
Round Four saw another win for Brown, however his margin was trimmed slightly by Daley and Cullen, who had moved to third on margins.
However any chance of the chasers running down Brown and compatriots in round five were erased with his side again posting a commanding victory to take out first prize.
Daley and his team of John Bain and Mark Menzies managed to hang on to second place, with Cullen's side of Bob Foster and Barry Smith the only other undefeated team in the event.
Only three other teams managed four out of five wins to take the minor placings.
It was great to see this event back on the local calendar, and it is hoped that the event will build from this year and once again fill three greens in years to come.
