At Sawtell, the open singles has thrown up eight worthy contestants, all capable of taking out the title.
Quarter Finals will be:
Andy King Vs Paul Ward
Cory Daley Vs Chris Habgood
Grahame Green Vs Tony Wills
David Miles Vs Rod Hiscock
King advanced after two strong wins, the last against Martin Wilson. The young gun reached the final of the 2010 C/CC district singles where he was beaten by quarter final opponent Ward. Ward is also the 2009 open district champ.
Reigning champ Daley will have his work cut out against former C/CC district champion Habgood whilst Wills and Green both are well respected within the district and will provide an entertaining match up. The wild card of the field is Sawtell local David Miles who upstaged some quality opponents to reach the quarters. Rod Hiscock will be his adversary and certainly has the ability to perform in big matches, having claimed the 2010 zone pairs title.
