Pennants Round Nine

The end results of Grades One, Three, Four and Six appear much clearer after a turbulent round nine, although despite some telling results, no one is over the line yet in these grades. Grade Two still hangs in the balance whilst the playoff for the Grade Five flag between Bowraville and Bellingen has occurred but the result not yet posted!

In the combined First & Second Grade event, Park Beach Firsts have closed in on a seventh successive district flag, defeating Sawtell at Sawtell 5-1 to move six clear with two rounds remaining. Park Beach two's failed to take advantage of Sawtell's defeat, losing to West Coffs 4-2, who have finally found some form late in the event. Urunga lifted themselves out of last place with a narrow 5-1 victory against Coffs Ex Services, who now seemed destined for relegation. Sawtell still hold the ascendancy in the race for the Second grade flag, leading Park Beach two by five points, the result looking to be decided in the last round of the year.

Grade Three is now a two horse race after Nambucca Heads crushed Park Beach on their home rink 6-0, winning by a massive margin of 41 shots to end the Park Beach season. Woolgoolga kep their slim hopes alive with a 5-1 away win at Sawtell however will need to score maximum points in both matches to trouble Nambucca.

In Grade Four, a win over nearest rivals Woolgoolga has placed Sawtell in a position to sew up the flag in round ten. A six nil result next week against Coffs Ex Services will guarantee a victory with the now second placed Scotts Head seven points adrift. Scotts Head will be devastated that the round eight scheduled clash with Sawtell didn't occur, with the chance to defeat the leaders potentially taken from them by mother nature, the washed out match only scheduled should it have a bearing on the final standings...

The result of the play off in Grade Five will be posted as it comes to hand.

Congrats to all the winning sides.

Cheers,

Chippy
