The Zone Fourteen pennant finals produces some memorable matches today with more than one match coming down to the last end. So far I have only been able to gather the results from Grades One to Four played at Park Beach.. They are as follows...
Grade One
Park Beach Def Westport 52-51. The rivalry between the two dominant clubs in the zone will continue to grow after Park Beach won the last three ends of the match to steal the one shot victory on their home soil.
Grade Two
Port City Def Sawtell 55-51. The match was neck and neck all the way however it was Port City who stayed strong, the match only decided on Sawtell's last bowl.
Grade Three
Nambucca Heads Def Kew 54-40. In what was truly the upset of the day, Nambucca outclassed their highly fancied rivals to confortably earn a berth at the state finals. The team also had to contend with the absence of young gun Danny Gilmore who was unavailable due to family commitments, making the win even more special.
Grade Four
Westport Def Sawtell 65-44. Westport salvaged one flag from the days play, inflicting another painfull loss on Sawtell.
Results from Grades Five to Seven to be posted as they come to hand.
Cheers,
Chippy
