The opening rounds of the Mid North Coast Fours threw up some surprise results straight from the opening matches with both of last years finalists eliminated. Reigning champions skippered by Col Pritchard didn't even see out 21 ends against their Urunga opponents skippered by Brett McDonnell, whist 2010 runners up skippered by Ric Southam also fell by the way side, beaten by six by Grahame Green's Sawtell side.
With the event hosted by Coffs Ex Services, the Nambucca entrants skippered by Geoff Beattie and John Wright are firming into favouritism, with their experience on the synthetic surface only further improving their chances. They are joined by the two remaining Park Beach sides as well as teams from West Coffs, Sawtell, Urunga and Scotts Head.
I'll stick my neck out and predict a Geoff Beattie Vs Brett McDonnell final.
With the washed out Round two pennant matches being played this coming Sunday the fours quarter and semi finals have been postponed until Sunday 20th March. Good luck to all eight teams remaining.
