West Coffs have kept their hopes of claiming the first grade flag alive with a hard fought victory over Park Beach in round five of the Mid North Coast Pennant. Trailing the ladder leaders by 13 points after just four matches the West Coffs side turned in their best performance of the year, edging out their rivals 4-2. Sawtell and Park Beach seconds both capitalised on Park Beach Ones defeat, Sawtell ending Urunga's season with a 6-0 victory, and Park Beach Two's taking out a 5-1 victory against Coffs Ex Services. As a result, Sawtell now lead overall on 22 points with a superior for and against over Park Beach Ones, who are also on 22 points. Parky two's are three points further back whilst West Coffs and Coffs Ex Services remain in the hunt on 11 points.
In Grade Three, the narrow 4-2 home victory over Woolgoolga by Park Beach has kept both sides in the hunt, both now within 3 points of leaders Nambucca Heads who had the bye.
Sawtell and Nambucca Heads moved closer to the Fourth Grade flag with good wins on the weekend, Nambucca's victory over Woolgoolga the big result of the weekends matches.
Macksville sewed up Section One in Grade Five with one round remaining with their success over Bowraville whilst in Section Two Bellingen requires just one point in their last match to sew up a place in the sectional play off after a comfortable victory over last place Park Beach.
Coffs Ex Services and Park Beach have moved into first and second respectively after both posted 6-0 victories, Park Beach leap frogging West Coffs with their win. And in Grade Seven Nambucca crushed their nearest rival Woolgoolga to move to an almost unbeatable lead.
Cheers,
Chippy
