Weekend Preview for April 2nd & 3rd...

The upcoming weekend will see Round Six of the 2011 Pennant season played Saturday, and all four district pairs disciplines commencing on Sunday.
In the Pennants, the match of the round will be the clash between equal leaders Sawtell and last start winners West Coffs. West kept their season alive last week with their victory over Park Beach Ones and they will be desperate to avenge their opening round loss to Sawtell in this clash. For Sawtell, this match represents a great chance to take the combined first and second grade by the scruff of the neck. Playing at home they will be hard to beat, but based on last weeks result, West Coffs are certainly capable of bringing them back to earth...

In the open Pairs event hosted by Woolgoolga, West Coffs bowler Rod Hiscock will be aiming to claim his third successive district pairs crown. Successful in 2009 with partner Stuart Hartigan and in 2010 with Kent Price, Hiscock has reunited with Hartigan in his bid for a hat trick. The duo will be the team to beat, closely followed by Park Beach pairing John Bain and Ric Southam. Other teams to watch include local duo Dave Valentine and Shayne Dodd, and West Coffs brothers Shaun and Martin Wilson. Watch out for Stuarts Point young guns Jake Jeffery and Andy King, who would be the dark horses of the event.

In the senior pairs hosted by West Coffs, former state champions Wayne Rowbottom and Col pritchard will once again go in as favourites, however they will face stiff competition from teams skippered by Grahame Purvis, Laurie Morris and Ray O'Keefe.

At Sawtell, M Reimer and Chris Habgood will start favourites, however there is no shortage of quality teams with a big chance as well. And finally in the junior pairs being played at Macksville, just four teams are lining up, the side comprising Josh Forbes and Corey Wedlock from Urunga being the team to beat.

Good luck to all involved!

Til Next time...

Chippy
