District Singles kicks off Saturday!

The 2012 District Singles events kick off in earnest this Saturday at three different venues.

The Open Singles will see just five matches played this weekend at Park Beach owing to representative commitments. Defending champion Cory Daley will take on the unpredictable Glenn Wedlock in one of the opening clashes whilst another highly rated player being Greg Cridge will clash with Steve Kennedy. The clash of the opening round however could be the match up between Mark Reimer and Chris Adams. Both showed good form in the recent district triples and should be set for a big match.

Woolgoolga will host the Presidents Singles event, which is open to bowlers graded five or lower, and as such is probably the hardest to predict results in. Of the three matches scheduled for Saturday, the clash between Anthony Baker and Graeme Chalmers should be one to watch. Unlike the opens, which are only playing Saturday, round two will be played in the Presidents on Sunday morning. The player to watch in this event would be Nev Womersley who is drawn to play Paul Smith in round two.

Finally the Senior Singles will be played at Sawtell, where reigning champion Phil Toy will start as favourite but will have his work cut out for him with a tough encounter expected against Vic Mankin. Neil Williams and Paul Bartholomew will also be an interesting match up. Round two will also be played on Sunday before a two week hiatus.

Good luck to all involved this weekend.

Cheers,

Chippy
