2012 District Singles Continued

After this coming weekend the District Senior and Presidents Singles titles for 2012 will have a champion crowned and the Open singles will have it's two finalists.
Sixteen bowlers remain in the Seniors Singles being played at Sawtell. Reigning champ Phil Toy will be the man to beat. Other names to watch include Graham Horne, Ray Cridge, Laurie Morris and Graham Purvis.
In the Presidents singles at Woolgoolga only sixteen also remain in the hunt. The event is a breeding ground for future stars with bowlers generally newer to the game against some experienced hands. Bowlers of many different age groups are represented in the last sixteen including two juniors, being Sawtells Mitch Clarke and Nambucca's Aaron Gittoes. Gittoes did well earlier on the year in the Presidents pairs and will be hard to beat. Other bowlers who are big chances include Rick White and Col Amos. Match of the round could quite easily be the clash between J Thorn and B Metham.

The Open singles still has thirty bowlers remaining and it would be fair to say that the event is as strong as it has ever been with nearly every bowler remaining a serious chance of taking out the title. Every one of the match ups in the next round at Park Beach this Saturday have the potential to be a classic. Most notable of these would be P.T Clarke Vs Shayne Dodd, Graham Green Vs Steve Plumb, 2011 Presidents singles district winner Hans Katala Vs Ian Weldon, and young gun Corey Wedlock Vs Rod Farmer.
Tony Urquhart and Martin Wilson will be another great match as will the battle between two ex juniors, of slightly different eras being Cam Wills and Chris Adams. Many others will also be entertaining with spectators spoilt for choice.

Good Luck to all involved..

Chippy
