District Triples Opening Rounds

The rainclouds cleared in time on Sunday for the opening rounds of the district triples to be played on the Macksville greens with some surprising results.
First of the favoured teams to suffer a surprise defeat was the Sawtell outfit skippered by Greg Cridge. Nambucca's highly rated side skippered by Geoff Beattie was the next of the big guns to falter, being beaten in a tough contest by West Coff's Trevor Baker.
The match of the afternoon was the clash between Laurie Morris and his Park Beach side and Rod Hiscock's Coffs Ex Services, Morris and co proving too strong and advancing to the quarter finals.
Park Beach, Sawtell, Bellingen and Urunga all have sides in the last eight, with Parky having the lion's share of finalists. On the top half of the draw Chris Habgood's Bellingen outfit will face off against Rod Farmer and co and reigning champions skippered by Cory Daley will play their club mates led by Rex Holloway, Sawtell will be ensured of at least a semi finalist when P.T Clarke takes on Paul Bartholomew, and in the match of the round John Bradleys Urunga side will challenge Laurie Morris and team for a place in the final four.

Good luck to all involved.

Chippy
