Sawtell and Nambucca Heads have dominated the early rounds of the MNC district pairs hosted by Scotts Head last Sunday. In total five clubs will be represented in the quarter finals after some tough matches in beautiful conditions in the early rounds.
Match of the opening rounds would have to have been the win by Ben Sutton and P.T Clarke over local stalwarts R Foster and Ben Budge. Trailing all match, Clarke picked up four on the last end to claim a one shot victory. Teams in form appear to be Sawtell's David Miles & Greg Cridge, and Neil Davison and Graeme Greene, as well as Park Beach's Johnny Bain & Ric Southam, and finally Nambucca's Ken Rostron and Geoff Beattie who all scored convincing victories to reach the final eight.
In the senior pairs event hosted by Sawtell, Park Beach has claimed six of the eight quarter final positions with the host club taking ownership of the last two. The most impressive win of round two belongs to Peter Woodsell & Laurie Morris with a twenty two shot success, whilst tightest match of the day saw Alan Watkins and Don Wood sneak away with a four shot win over Bill Meadows and Ian Muller.
Finally at West Coffs, four different clubs will be on show in the semi finals of the Presidents Pairs, with the first semi final seeing T Stokes & A Gittoes of Nambucca Heads taking on D Shield and P Smith of Park Beach, and in semi final two Scotts Head bowlers J Hewson and T Narris will clash with Coffs Ex Services G Tindall and J Bishop.
No pairs to be played this Sunday due to the under 45 representative clash against LNC.
Cheers,
Cory
