Round Five Pennant Results

The clash of the titans in the combined first and second grade division on Saturday proved to be another classic encounter between home club Sawtell and Park Beach. In a match that went down to the wire, Park Beach affirmed their status as the side to beat, scraping home with a 4 - 2 victory, Jim Swan's victory over Graham Green proving the difference after P.T Clarke and Greg Cridge picked up rink wins for the home side.
Nambucca were able to take advantage of the close encounter between the two first grade entrants to close the gap after a strong 5 - 1 victory against Park each Seconds, Geoff Beattie's big win over Rob Wardrop guaranteeing the big board.
West Coffs also moved back into contention, and in the process all but ended Urunga's chances for the season with a 6 - 0 victory.
The results see Park Beach nine points clear of Nambucca Heads, followed closely by West Coffs, Park Beach seconds and Sawtell still in the mix.

In Grade Three it was Woolgoolga who stepped up winning their away fixture against Park Beach to usurp the leadership of this division. Sawtell kept their season alive and ended the season of Scotts Head with a 5 - 1 success.

Park Beach and Urunga have maintained the status quo with 5 - 1 victories over nearest rivals Bellingen and Nambucca Heads in Grade Four. Coffs Ex Services kept themselves in contention with a whitewash of Sawtell.

In Grade Five Coffs Ex Services staged a second half fight back against Woolgoolga to stretch their lead over their rivals, whilst Macksville moved into second place with a victory over Bowraville.
Whilst in Grade Six Nambucca Heads, North Beach and Park Beach scored victories to hold down the top three places in this division.

Finally in Grade Seven section one Nambucca Heads blew a golden opportunity to catch leaders Bowraville after their defeat at the hands of Sawtell, and Park Beach scored a much needed victory over Macksville. Section Two saw Urunga take the lead after defeating Park Beach whilst Sawtell scored their first win of the season, taking down Woolgoolga to keep their slim hopes alive.

Cheers,

Chippy
